There are two different problems here: the phone cannot read the code at all, or it reads it but shows an error page. Start with the one you see.
The phone opens an Enqode page instead of your content
These pages appear for dynamic codes. Each one has a fix in your dashboard. Open My QR Codes and click Analytics on the code.
- "This QR code is paused": the code is paused. Click the status pill next to its name to make it Active again.
- "This QR code has expired": its expiry date has passed. Under Configuration, click Expiry and choose a later date or No expiry.
- "Scan limit reached": it hit its maximum number of scans. Click Scan limit and raise the limit, or set it to 0 for unlimited.
- "This QR code isn't available here": geo-fencing is blocking the scanner's country. Click Geo-fencing and check the countries.
- "QR code not found": the code was deleted. If it was deleted in the last 30 days, restore it from Trash.
- A password prompt: the code is password-protected. Share the password, or remove it under Password.
The phone cannot read the code
- Use the camera app. Open the phone's camera and point it at the code so the whole code is in frame. On Android, if nothing appears, try Google Lens.
- Check the size and distance. A good rule of thumb is a scan distance of about 10 times the code's width. A 3 cm code scans from about 30 cm away. Print bigger for posters and signs.
- Check the contrast. Dark dots on a light background scan best. Light dots on a dark background, or low-contrast colours, can fail.
- Leave clear space around the code, with no text or images touching it.
- Try a simpler pattern. Classic and Fluid scan most reliably. Dots needs strong contrast and a decent print size.
- Check the print. Smudged, stretched, folded or glossy prints under glare can stop a scan.
Changed the design? Download the code again and test it with your own phone before you reprint.
It opens the wrong content
