Customising your QR code's design

You can style a code while you make it. The design tabs sit below the form in the generator's Enter Details step, and the preview updates as you go.

The design tabs

  • Pattern: the shape of the dots. Classic and Fluid scan most reliably. Dots looks great but needs strong contrast and a decent print size.
  • Eye: the shape of the three corner squares.
  • Logo: pick one of the Popular logos or click Upload custom logo (PNG or JPG, up to 1 MB). You can crop it before it is added.
  • Colour: the colour of the dots, the background, the Eye frame and the Pupil (centre). You can also use a gradient.
  • Frame: put a frame around the code with a call to action such as "SCAN ME", and choose the frame's colour and font.
  • Templates: start from one of the Pre-Made Templates, or one you saved yourself under Your Templates.

Save a design to reuse

  1. Style a code the way you like it.
  2. In Preview & Download, tick Save this design as a reusable template.
  3. Give it a name and save it.

It then appears under Templates in Your Templates. Saved templates are kept in your browser, so they show up on the same browser and device you saved them on.

Keep it scannable

  • Keep strong contrast: dark dots on a light background scan best.
  • Leave clear space around the code.
  • Test the downloaded code with your own phone before you print.
